About Me

Hi, I'm Siobhan!
Hello! My name is Siobhán Kowalik, I’m an illustrator and graphic designer embarking on a career in surface design. I created my personal brand The Baroque Heart in 2023 as a collection for maximalist, gothic, art history-inspired visuals, and in the process have become focused on applying my creative and technical skills to surface design.
My personal work is guided by getting back in touch with what I liked when I was a teenager and honoring that part of myself; an art kid, a moody goth, a bit of a nerd who enjoyed history and literature more than math but could get on board with science since the diagrams were always visually interesting. I have a specific interest in baroque era design for its maximalism (hence my brand name), but I enjoy art history as a whole subject and am always delighted to explore art movements or pieces in my work. I have a great love for nature and get all my best ideas when I’m spending time outdoors, and I am specifically seeking to find work with companies that have forward thinking practices about ecological sustainability. Additionally, human rights, autonomy and emotional connections are a great motivators to me. I think art has the ability to unite people in positive ways, even in the details that people often miss, like a beautiful fabric print on a dress worn for an important occasion or the wrapping paper they bought for a friend’s birthday gift. Even though I love creating art that has a bite to it, I think of it as a love bite; sometimes sweet, sometimes cheeky, always made to draw people in.
I am seeking work with others who hold similar values to mine and generally want to make the world a more beautiful place. Companies that uphold strong sustainability practices and support both ethical working environments for people and care about material sourcing are exactly the type of businesses I’d like to connect with. No matter what, I want to create stunning products and bring big ideas to life.
I cannot wait to create beautiful things with you.
